Freshwater pearl mussel revival

19 years have passed since the international freshwater pearl mussel community first met in Hof in Upper Franconia in the early days of FWPM protection efforts. Now the experts have returned to Hof. A professional exchange was carried out on the current status of captive breeding and on possibilities for the improvement of its habitats.
One focus of the conference was the exchange of concrete mitigation measures in the catchments. Blattfisch contributed its experiences in the installation of sedimentation areas, ecological restoration measures and sustainable fisheries management.
The field trip at the end of the meeting led us to the German-Czech breeding station "Huschermühle" and a breeding ditch for juvenile pearl mussels.
